New facility for food manufacturing company in Central Business District

Food manufacturing company Consolidated Biscuit is investing €3 million in a new facility within the Central Business District in Mrieħel, through which it shall be consolidating and enhancing the efficiency of its production and logistics processes.

The company’s plans were announced during a visit by the Hon. Minister for the Economy and Industry Silvio Schembri to Consolidated Biscuit’s production and warehouse facilities, which overlook the construction site of the new building. The Minister was accompanied by INDIS Malta CEO Karl Azzopardi, and Trade Malta CEO Anton Buttigieg.

The new facility is spread over an area of 3,000 square metres and, in line with INDIS Malta’s strategic objectives, will comprise multiple levels so as to make a more efficient and more sustainable use of the available industrial space.

As a result of the project, the company will also be able to release an older factory which INDIS Malta will then be able to reallocate to facilitate other investment projects.

Consolidated Biscuit’s products range from food snacks to biscuits and crackers. They are not only a staple in many households throughout the Maltese islands, but also very sought after in the countries that the company exports to.
