Infrastructure being upgraded to support Aviation Maintenance sector

Malta Industrial Parks shall be investing over 13 million euro in the upgrading of Taxiway LIMA, which runs parallel to Runway 23/05 or what is colloquially referred to as the short runway.

Forming part of the infrastructural investment programme for the coming years and in line with MIP’s strategy for the aviation sector, the project will provide better access to the MRO facilities in the area and enable companies operating there to target clients they were previously unable to service.

This project will involve the reconstruction of an 800 metre stretch of the taxiway and its upgrading to handle up to Code E aircraft.

The announcement was made during a visit to the new facility being built by SR Technics with an investment of over 40 million euro, with its roof framework being lifted in place on the day in another milestone for the local aviation maintenance sector.
